I would add, as the Memorial refers only to the effects of the hot damp months in Hongkong, that I should find it quite impossible, in the condition to which I have been reduced, to preside over a Retrenchment-Committee here in the winter, especially as I should then have a good deal to do in connection with the Estimates and other Council work.
but an early and permanent removal from Hongkong will enable me to do really satisfactory work again.
